For a long time now, it has been necessary to understand digital culture in all of its aspects not as a novelty of an element that needs to be defined, but as an integral part of contemporary civilisation. It plays a fundamental role in today’s communication, entertainment and the diffusion of knowledge. Simultaneously, digital media – with all of their flexibility and universality – are connected by their sensitivity and short life spans. Information disappears both because of the intent of its owners and senders, and for purely technical reasons. This panel will be dedicated to questions of archiving the web and other products of digital culture (including games) and issues of creating reliable repositories of information.
